2020 Florida Ranches Calendar Celebrates Fifteenth Anniversary of Telling the Story of Florida’s Cattle Ranches

Posted on September 17, 2019

Palm City, FL - More than 900 people move to Florida every day.  We’re not talking tourists who visit Disney or enjoy our beaches. We’re talking new residents moving here every year that equate to a city the size of Orlando. Often, these newcomers know little about “old Florida” and the positive impact an unlikely industry is having on Florida’s precious natural resources. Nearly 500 years ago, Ponce De Leon brought cattle to America’s first city of St. Augustine making Florida our country’s first cattle state. Today, generations later, these cattlemen and cattlewomen are doing their part across the state to maintain natural Florida and preserve the environmental and cultural heritage on their ranch lands. The Firefly Group, a Palm City based marketing and public relations firm, along with partners and sponsors, has been telling the story of Florida’s cattle ranches for 15 years through the award-winning Florida Ranches Calendar.

“In a time when everything seems to be online and digital, where a beautiful image is something you just scroll past in an Instagram feed, the Florida Ranches Calendar is a classic, printed wall calendar that people can enjoy all year round,” said Stacy Ranieri, president and Chief Illuminator of the Firefly Group and publisher of the Florida Ranches Calendar.

Stunning monthly photographs coupled with informative captions for each image, offer a glimpse into the diversity of Florida’s working ranches and insights into their commendable conservation efforts.

“We had another great response to our photo contest this year and received over 250 submissions depicting daily life on ranches throughout the state. Our final selections will be accompanied by images from photojournalist and national geographic explorer Carlton Ward Jr.,” said Megan Morris, Glowing Results Director for the Firefly Group and project manager for the calendar.

“Though the calendar has evolved over the years, one thing hasn’t changed: our enthusiasm for sharing the story of Florida’s cattle ranches. As Florida’s population continues to grow, it is critical we create linkages between our coastal areas and the heartlands, between urban and rural communities.  The pages of the Florida Ranches calendar offer people everywhere a beautiful perspective and appreciation for Florida’s oldest environmental stewards.”
